On January 20th, Leisa Perch, Gender Consultant and SAEDI Consulting’s Managing Director went on mission in Grenada for the preparation of the AG-ADAPT project: “Scaling up Climate Resilient Food and Nutrition Security.”
The project is being developed by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and endorsed by the Government of Grenada, to access funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF). AG-ADAPT seeks to accelerate climate change adaptation within the agri-food system in Grenada.
As a gender, social inclusion and climate consulting firm, SAEDI Consulting plays a key role in the social and gender inclusion elements of projects such as AG-ADAPT. Ms. Perch, Gender Consultant on the project, engaged with a variety of key government and non-government stakeholders across agricultural, youth, women’s and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) agencies and organisations. Among these were Grenada’s Ministry of Climate Resilience, The Environment and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Agriculture, CARDI, the Grenada chapters of Caribbean Women in Leadership (CIWiL) and Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN), and Grenada’s National Council of the Disabled.
Their perspectives and insights were highly valuable in informing the project, its social and gender risks, as well as opportunities for engagement of these vulnerable groups in its activities.
