The World Economic Forum estimates that we will take almost 140 years for us to achieve gender equality. If we do, then not just 50% of the world’s population, but 100% of us, will fail to achieve our full potential.

To move the needle forward on gender equality and women’s empowerment, we are calling on our Caribbean leaders to strategically act to change the life of our women, our families and our region.

With this, we call on actors in the region enact change. We ask,

• Our regional institutions to take the lead on assessing the economic impacts of, collecting data on, and recognizing the impact of women in the informal sectors.
• Our central banks to update banking policies to ensure our banking system understands and promotes financial services directed at women entrepreneurs, youth, people with disabilities and other diverse and underserved groups.

We urge real and strategic action to ensure we accelerate action on women’s empowerment in our Caribbean region.
