Happy Earth Day 2025!

This year's theme is Our Power, Our Planet and is a call for unity on renewable energy and the tripling of renewable energy generation globally by 2030.

Marginalised groups such as women and Indigenous Peoples must be represented and empowered in the renewable energy space because they are key to advancing a just and gender-inclusive energy transition.

However, they face barriers which restrict their ability to not only share their perspectives in energy-related decisions but also to directly participating in the sector and being more than beneficiaries.

In these times when concepts such as human rights, diversity, equity and inclusion and even climate change are being openly challenged and erased, it is important to avoid losing sight of the critical intersection these play in determining who gets what, how much they get, when they get it, what kind of control over the resource they have and how long they have that control. These are not soft issues; they are some of the most difficult to solve and to sustain progress on because of how inherently personal and political they are. These ARE issues that have been eternal throughout human history and human experience.

Our blog, entitled Our Power, Our Planet: Women and Indigenous Peoples in Renewable Energy, highlights these challenges and advocates for their meaningful participation in the renewable energy sector. Read the article here!

We call on all persons to support and advocate for women’s and Indigenous Peoples’ representation and meaningful participation in the sector. A truly just and sustainable energy future depends on it!
