Last week, our Managing Director Leisa Perch, attended Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI)'s Climate Justice Partners Forum. The 2-day event gathered members of the Caribbean Climate Justice Alliance (CCJA) which includes SAEDI Consulting, along with frontline communities,
climate/environmental defenders, civil society allies, climate justice advocates, and legal professionals and funding agencies that work on environmental and climate justice, to name a few.

Ms. Perch, in collaboration with Christine Samwaroo, also developed and presented a case study, "Justice on the Plate: Climate, Gender, and Caribbean Food Culture in Belize and Guyana". It explored the importance of culturally significant foods - the Belizean Hudut dish of fish and plantains and the versatile cassava crop as a staple in Guyana - and their importance to culture, communities and livelihoods. She also guided a group activity on Women, Indigenous People and Defenders of Other Marginalised Groups, along with Yemi Knight and Stacey Alvarez de la Campa as part of Day 2 activities.
