For many communities, water is scarce, but the fight for justice isn't.

This World Drought Day, we're excited to launch our NGO & CSO Engagement Strategy, recognising the irreplaceable impact that frontline NGOs have in driving solutions in climate resilience, land restoration, and community empowerment.

We are thankful to our partners and collaborators, who continue to pioneer important work in environmental justice, agriculture, and climate change, including Caribbean Climate Justice Alliance, CANARI, SGP, Climate Lead Group, and other organisations that keep equity at the center of climate action.

Throwback to our CSW68 blog where Jacqueline Massiah-Simeon reflected on how drought is detrimental to the livelihoods of rural women. "According to the United Nations, most of the people living on less than $1.25 per day rely on agriculture for their livelihoods. Technology in agriculture, in the aid of poverty reduction, allows for increased yields by the introduction of biotechnology to develop disease and drought-resistant crops, and crops with enhanced nutritional content."

Innovation, technology, and empowerment remain the strongest seeds to sow to tackle the roots of desertification.
