Across environmental sectors and contexts, gender and social inclusion are still being left out of the conversation

We recently wrapped up one of our key milestone projects to date, the National Environmental Noise Perception and Social Survey (NENPASS) commissioned by Barbados' Environmental Protection Department. It truly allowed us to test and explore our capacity for research and analysis by synthesizing insights across media, from social media posts to quantitative baseline data to survey instruments and interviews.

In 4 years of commitment to SAEDI Consulting, Roshanna Ramdass has shaped the foundations of our team, enabling our data collection process with her research skills. Alongside leading IRB approval and research ethics for our methodological approach, she was one of 3 team members conducting field surveys in Barbados this past April.

Her efforts helped in capturing over 1K+ survey respondents and 32+ engagements. This was instrumental to the outputs we delivered, including a Stakeholder Engagement Report, Social Impact Assessment, and public summary, allowing us to distill global analyses, community needs, local trends and preferences, and KAPC behavioural insights to equip Government with evidence for noise policy and legislation.

As Roshanna reflects, "flexible, ethical approaches to data collection are essential for maintaining participant trust while achieving research objectives."

This rewarding project allowed us to capture and communicate the needs of communities affected by noise. Noise is often siloed as being purely environmental or physical, despite it also being social, cultural, legal, economic, ecological, medical, and psychological.
